Bring Memorial Day On : The Play House is Finished

Steven Feinman

May 27, 2011

Neither a week of horrendous, cool rain, nor muddy fields, nor lack of donuts could prevent the annual "Loading of the Trailer" this past Thursday evening at Jim Brady's barn.

Called for a 7 pm start, many of the "millwright" crew arrived earlier to rig and move the Play House into position to be loaded on Jim Brady's trailer for its formal debut during the Dexter Memorial Day Parade. The parade is set for Monday, May 30, 2011 at 10 am.

Unlike the construction, the loading work relied on much grunting, a few choice words, lift bars, rollers, and chain cinches. The loading was kicked off with Chief Builder and Millwright Jeff Brown, noting that the loading of the Play House meant that "Spring has officially arrived."

The millwright crew included the Chief Technical Officer Jim Brady, as well as Jeff Brown, Doug Fuller, Gil Campbell with somewhat tardy, but on time, appearances by Fred Rickleman and Steve Feinman.
